Halter Collars

CRV myHERD now connects directly with Halter Dairy. Here's some detail to help understand the integration.

What does this integration do?
It links myHERD with Halter so key animal and reproduction data flows automatically between the two systems, with no double entry required. Animal and reproduction records go from myHERD to Halter, and from November, heat events detected by Halter will come back into myHERD.
What data moves across?
Animal and reproduction information recorded in myHERD is sent through to Halter. This includes animal details (date of birth, BID, VID, EID, gender, breed), reproduction and lifecycle events (calving, mating, pregnancy test results, dry-off), body condition scores (BCS) and weights. From November, Halter will also send heat events through to myHERD.
What data doesn't move across?
Animal status changes (sales, culls, deaths and purchases) and tagging changes (new tags or replacements) don't transfer. You'll need to enter these in Halter directly.
Which animals have their data transferred?
Only animals with a Halter collar recorded against them in Halter, with a VID.
Is there anything I need to check before connecting?
Yes. Make sure the visual ID (VID) recorded in myHERD matches each cow's tag number in Halter. If they don't match, data won't come through for that cow.
How quickly does data update?
All data syncs nightly. Matings and calvings come through within approximately two hours of being entered in myHERD.
Do I need to do anything to get set up?
Yes, call 0800 myHERD (0800 694 373) or email myherd@crv4all.co.nz and we'll walk you through it.
Is there a cost?
An additional 5 cents per animal per month, on top of your standard myHERD subscription. This is a single fee that covers all your integrations, no matter how many you have.
Which Halter plan do I need?
The integration is available on Halter's Pro and Unlimited plans. It isn't available on the Core plan.
I have a drafting gate. Will it work with Halter?
Halter integrates with EasyDairy, MilkTech, Allflex, Jantec, DeLaval, Protrack (via MINDA) and Intelligate drafting gates. These connections run separately from the myHERD integration, and Halter's help centre has articles explaining how to get set up.
Which system should I treat as the source of truth?
myHERD. Once the integration is active, enter and manage core animal data there. Animal status changes and tagging still need to be managed in Halter directly.
How do AB matings flow through the system?
Whether you use a CRV technician or DIY, once the mating is in myHERD it will flow through to Halter. This keeps mating data consistent across all systems without manual re-entry.
Who do I contact if something's not right?
For myHERD data or support: 0800 694 373.
